STEM

Back

Perhaps you have seen the term before, or maybe STEM is brand new to you. STEM is not new, but it is gaining a lot of attention in recent years. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. STEM education is far more than just sticking those subject titles together; it is a philosophy of education. Rarely does a job require only one skill set; jobs in the real world are interdisciplinary. Picture an architect; they use science, mathematics, engineering and technology to design complex buildings.

At Nunnery Wood High School, we want our students to develop diverse skills sets and have a passion for exploration and growth. STEM embraces these skills as well as the 4 C’s: Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Communication. In 2020, the school was shortlisted for the STEM Team of the Year in the TES School Awards.
