Well done and thank you to all staff and students for an excellent Summer Term. We hope you all have an enjoyable break. We have a busy summer of works planned at Nunnery Wood. Our main premises project will be the replacement of the internal corridor doors. The library is also getting a make over with redecoration and new carpet in the main area and stairs leading from the LRC. Our Systems team will be busy putting new pcs in the library and every classroom as well as a huge project to improve the schools network with the installation of a 10GB network to some parts of the school and replacement of major parts of the infrastructure. On-line services and this website will be disrupted whilst this takes place, information to follow in early August. One huge project is the installation of our new Cashless Catering System. Don't forget if you want to top up your accounts ready for September, you can post a cheque into school. Mark it for the attention of the 'Finance Department' and make sure on the back of the cheque it includes the student's name, tutor group and the word 'Catering' (Cheques payable to 'WCC Nunnery Wood High School'). If you need to top up your account with cash on the first day back, there will be two cash units next to the finance office. Students who have not had the opportunity to register biometrically, will be able to on Monday 6th September. Our new unique Parental / Staff / Student / Governor Portals are being completed over the summer. Parents can still register for portal access using the information supplied on the recent letter home. Remember to visit the website during the summer for updates. |

Our annual awards evenings were a fantastic success. With Years 7 and 8 on Wednesday 30 June and Years 9 and 10 on Thursday 1 July over 700 parents/carers joined staff and students to celebrate acheivement at Nunnery Wood. 'Celebration' was the order of both evenings as we contragulated students who have demonstrated a passion to succeed in a particular subject or have shown consistent effort in everything they do. In addition students who have given it their all to provide service to the school or who have overcome personal difficulties recieved an award and token gift during this special evening. Thank you to everyone for their support.

Message from Mrs J Dillon, Acting Headteacher: I am so glad I was able to attend the PE Celebration on Tuesday 22 June. What a night! It was fantastic, the atmosphere was superb with so many happy children and parents coming together to support the school and their child. I want to say a huge “Thank You” to the PE staff for all of their work and effort, not just in the lead up to last night, but for all of the support they give our children throughout the year, daily, in all weather conditions, creating opportunities for our students to achieve in other arenas. The celebrations continued on Wednesday 23rd June after school with a celebration of the Art department’s collaborative work with the 1st schools resulting in a stunning display in the dining hall and visitors from our first school partners sharing in the photo opportunity. Watch out for the photo and report in the press!! Thank you to Mrs L Stevens for her hard work. My gratitude to Mr M Haines and Mr G Barell for organizing today’s non uniform day and the after school event in the Hall to raise funds for “Kick It Out” the anti racism in sport charity, and to the England team for winning! There was a lovely community spirit in the hall and I was smiling at the uniformity of the groans and “leaping out of seats” by student and staff alike. I would also like to say thanks to the systems team who so cheerfully and expertly arrange electricity, IT equipment, screens etc at the drop of a hat! We couldn’t do without you “team systems”!
