School Closure - Tuesday 1st October 2013
Two teaching unions, the NUT and the NASUWT are planning strike action throughout the West Midlands on Tuesday 1st October 2013. At Nunnery Wood the great majority of our teachers are members of one of these unions and therefore will not be in work on that day.
I can now confirm that there will not be sufficient teaching staff in school on that day to provide safe education and so the school will be closed to almost all students on the day.
We are planning to invite in a limited number of students whose teachers are in work as normal: these are likely to be in Year 11 and for an extended time in one subject. These invitations will be issued as soon as possible by class teachers.
If the school closure causes particular difficulty for any parent or carer in terms of arranging child care, then please contact the relevant year head as we are able to occupy a limited number of students on the day using working staff.
