The Arts

When Winston Churchill was asked to cut arts funding in favour of the war effort, he simply replied, “then what are we fighting for?”

Welcome & Ethos

The Arts faculty are committed to developing an engaging and relevant curriculum that ensures students are able to creatively express themselves and develop confidence and appreciation within the Arts. We also believe in the importance of learning about the Arts as a result of practical engagement within each area (learning by doing), led by either the class teacher or by professional artists who come in to provide workshops throughout the year. Our commitment to the Arts was recognised in 2012 when we were judged as being an Artsmark Gold school by the Arts Council. This was also recognised by Ofsted in 2016… ‘Excellent provision both in and outside lessons in the visual and performing arts is supporting pupil’s high achievement in these areas.
